Therapeutic Effects of Euoxacin(B-MARK^(¢ç)) in Urinary Tract Infection



Abstract
Enoxacin is a new oral synthetic pyridone carboxylic antibacterial agent. It produces hi h urinary level and has activity against both Gram negative and Gram positive bacteri Therefore it is very suitable in urinary tract infection(UTI). Herein the clinical effica of enoxacin in 87 patients with various types of UTI were studied, and following , results were obtained.
I: In 36 cases with acute simple cystitis and pyelonephritis, the excellent efficacy ra e of enoxacin was 78%?, and efficacy rate was 97%.
2. In 25 cases with chronic complicated UTI, excellent efficacy rate was 36%, efficacy rate was 76%.
3. In gonorrheal urethritis, excellent efficacy rate was 64%, and efficacy rate was 93¡Æ 4. In non-gonorrheal urethritis, excellent efficacy rate was 33%, and efficacy rate w s ^only 58%.
5. Bacterial elimination rate on culture findings were E coil 94%, Proteus and N. gonorrhea 100%, Pseudomonas 71% and Staphylococcus 100%.
6. After enoxacin administration of 600mg daily for 3-10 days, side effects such as eruption or GI trouble developed in 4 cases.
We conclude that Enoxacin is a highly promising antibacterial agent in UTI, especial in acute simple cystitis and pyelonephritis and gonorrheal urethritis.
